About the examination
You will have a CT scan of your scaphoid bone (a small bone in your wrist) to rule out a fracture.
A CT scan is an advanced X-ray examination that provides detailed images of the bones in your body.
Please come to Billeddiagnostisk Afdeling, Radiologisk Afsnit (Diagnostic Imaging Department, Radiology Unit).at Nordsjællands Hospital - Hillerød, Indgang 03C on __/__ - ______ at 08.50 to register.
We have made an appointment for you on __/__ - ______ at 09.00
The examination takes about 10 minutes. Please allow 1 hour in total, as there may be waiting time.
Important preparation
Positioning
When you lie on the bed in the scanner, it is important that you can raise your arms above your head.
The cast or bandage must be removed before the scan.
Leave your valuables at home
This way, you will have fewer things to keep track of while you are at the hospital. Please note that, as a general rule, the hospital does not replace jewellery, cash or other items if they are lost.
The examination
Remove jewellery and watches before the examination
Jewellery and watches can interfere with images from the scan. You will therefore be asked to take them off before the scan.
The examination
We will help you get comfortable on the table, which moves you into the CT scanner. You must lie completely still on the stomach, with your arm above your head during the scan, so that the images are clear. You will be alone in the room, but we can see and talk to you the whole time.
Results of the examination
You will get the result of the examination at Akutmodtagelsen (the Emergency Ward). When the scan is finished, please go to Akutmodtagelsen (the Emergency Ward) and speak to the receptionist.
